This family project is dedicated to offer the experience of getting in touch with nature to relax and revitalize or just have fun, providing accommodation with modern comfort and great privacy, open-air recreation facilities including private forest and a minigolf course, and the option for natural healthcare. And it is truly wheelchair friendly !

Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Monchique range, near the rural town of São Teotónio and many of the small beaches typical for the Alentejo coast, it is a good base for day excursions in all directions and hiking on the "Rota Vicentina" and other forest and cliff trails in the area.

Nature & Comfort

The desire to find nature's tranquility and the wish to enjoy the habitual comfort do not enter in conflict. Although all the accommodations are inserted in nature, all of them meet the standards of cleanliness and modern amenities, including adequate heating, energy efficiency, fully equipped kitchen, private bathrooms, good-quality WiFi and satellite TV.

Local Crafts and Cosmopolitan Style

A skilful blend of local crafts and a cosmopolitan style are reflected in all decoration and create a unique atmosphere in and around the accommodations on the three different sites.

The consciousness that tourism in a rural environment and in nature has to carefully strike a very sensitive balance between preservation and innovation, has been ruling the development of SELÃO DA EIRA since the  beginning.

Ecological Principles

The houses are built by ecological standards, with high thermic insulation, passive climatization that dispenses air conditionning and only natural and non-toxic materials. The indoor atmosphere is pleasant and hypo-allergic.

Sustainable and Responsible Tourism

The modern ecological concept of reconciling nature and comfort - with strong focus on low environmental evasion, application of non-toxic materials and recycling, energy efficiency and social responsibility - has been and is applied in design, development and management, in order to achieve and maintain the hughest possible level of sustainability as regards the environmental impact, social relevance and economic viability of this nature tourism.

With the BIOSPHERE certificate obtained in 2021, after a challenging evaluation process, SELÃO DA EIRA is recognized as "Sustainable and Responsible Tourism" according to the United Nations sustainability goals "Horizon 2030”.

Comfortable Accommodation in Plain Nature

Fully independent accommodations - two studios and six houses - in peaceful natural surroundings offer modern facilities, distinguished interior decoration and generous private outdoor space apart from the common infrastructure like swimming pool and barbecue. The guests enjoy great privacy and can feeling at ease, almost like being at home.

Some are perfect for a romantic hideaway or personal retreat, others are ideal for families, and almost all provide conditions for remote working in a quiet environment.

On all three sites, most of the accommodations can be combined into larger houses to host groups of different types, being it for a meeting with friends or a recreational business gathering, groups on horse-riding or hiking trips, previous guests coming together for a thematic discussion weekend, retreat groups, participants of natural healthcare and healthy nutrition promotions.

The houses are like homes, and most of them offer excellent conditions also for long-term stays and home office.

SALGADINHO

This small and exclusive country house complex in plain nature provides a maximum of privacy and. The former windmill can host 8-10 guests yard transformed over the years into a kind of botanical garden which embraces the three accommodations.

The romantic two-level studio MOINHO (2 p) is inserted in the stone walls of the old windmill, while the two modern houses are built in the local taipa technique (compacted clay walls).

CASA PAVÃO (2-4 p, +1 in summer) is the most secluded accommodation with a hidden private garden and lawn.

The smaller CASA PEIXE (2+1 p) is located just beside the swimming pool, but sight-protected by the surrounding vegetation. This accommodation is fully suitable for guests in wheelchair, with adjacent private parking area and ramp access to the swimming pool.

The two houses have direct access to the swimming pool. All the accommodations have a private poolside sun terrace.  

The swimming pool is a large water surface integrated in the natural environment almost like a lake. The gradual access and anti-slippery tiles makes it easily accessible by wheelchair.

Thanks to the location at the highest point of the area, the place offers an ample view over the landscape with sunrise over the surrounding hills and down to the coastline. The sunset panorama over the ocean is as stunning as the limitless star-sparkling night sky.

SÍTIO DAS ROLAS

This large rural property has three distinctly different areas. The accommodations in the upper part are surrounded by large lawn and garden areas which integrate the swimming pool and the sheltered barbecue. The public sports and leisure zone with minigolfe and a water parque (in development) lie further down, at a certain distance to the accommodations, adjacento to a four-hectare plantation of medronheiro trees.

The atmosphere in the six-hectare property is set by the unspoilt panorama view over the landscape, spectacular sunsets over the ocean and a limitless open night sky, seen from almost every corner inside and outside the houses. The individual accommodations CANTO DO SOL, CASA ALECRIM and SOBREIRINHO may be joined together to create larger houses for 10, 12 or up to 19 persons, respectively.

SELÃO DA EIRA VELHA

True nature lovers, who are not bothered about peacock cries, will adore staying in the Nature Paradise SELÃO DA EIRA VELHA and plunge into nature with its many sounds and smells and a sparkling milky way at night. CASA CISNE or CASA LAGO are independent accommodations, but may be joined to become one large house for exclusive rental for up to 9 persons.

The guests have the entire valley at their disposal, including the Yin-Yang swimming pool with terraces under cork, fig and orange trees, the BBQ next to the creek and the biogarden, the traditional stone oven, and the glass pavilion, terraces and natural rest which belong to the Esplanade.

Pets are Welcome

Pets are welcome to accompany their families. Especially the dogs normally feel like in haven in the natural environment and in the company of the “host dogs”. But there are also cats coming and even birds.

Accessibility and Inclusion

From the very beginning, a constant matter of concern has been how SELÃO DA EIRA could contribute that those depending on a wheelchair and their caretakers, and others with a seriously reduced mobility get the opportunity to spend holidays in natureor, at least, have a day out for recreation at open air.

This concern has been translated into accommodations with barrier-free access and adequate conditions to support autonomy, as much as possible, also in the surroundings, and it has led to seriously take into consideration aspects of accessibility and inclusion in the planning and creation of open-air recreation areas and activities.

SALGADINHO

CASA PEIXE is wheelchair-friendly in terms of access and functionality. The accommodation has an exclusive directly linked parking area. The ramp access and anti-slippery floor tiles allow to enjoy the swimming pool even with mobility impairments. A sanitary wheelchair for driving into the water is available. 

SÍTIO DAS ROLAS

All three accommodations are fully wheelchair-friendly. Someone with controlable physical impairment may glide into the swimming pool with assistance from the terrace.

SELÃO DA EIRA VELHA

The Nature Paradise  is, above all, a recreation area in plain nature. Some parts are barrier-free from the two parking places. The forest trail starts at the lower parking place, passes the lotos lake and continuessbetween the lake and the creek along the forest under trees down to the riverside BBQ area and terraces.

, and the Esplanade's pavilion and dining room with fireplace, including sanitary installations. Yet, there is no way to reach the two accommodations by wheelchair.

 Swimming Pools in Natural Setting

In SALGADINHO the infinity pool appears like a lake and offers a stunning view over the Monchique and down to the ocean. The transboarding pool in SÍTIO DAS ROLAS with nose-diving depth has plenty of terrace space with adjacent lawn and a view over down to the horizon. The peaceful Yin & Yang swimming pool in SELÃO DA EIRA VELHA lies at the forest rim surrounded by cork, fig and orange trees. Occasionally some peacocks pass by.

Pool quality is maintained regularlywith electrolyse treatment through magnesium or potassium. 

In SALGADINHO and in SÍTIO DAS ROLAS the pools change their appearance under the spectacular panorama of sunrise and sunset. All the swimming pools have night illumination.

Recreation in the Nature Paradise

Who gets to this forest valley in plain National Ecological Reserve, enters a world apart and is captured by the unique atmosphere, and sooner or later calls it "paradise".  In this place, nature sets the rules. Roaming peacocks appear everywhere. The swan lakes, the natural lotus pond, the creek and the surrounding natural forest compose a unique recreation space for the residential guests as well as for day visitors and hikers on the Rota Vicentina.

Find out why the café-esplanade with the glass pavilion, a venue with fire place, various terraces and natural rest places scattered around the swan lakes and betweeb the lotus pond and the creek deserves to be named "Close to Paradise".

Boonkerd Yindee, a gentle Thai therapist with decades of professional experience, including in hospital, masters a wide range oftechniques, including massage, bending and stretching, the combination with herbal applications, deep tissue pressure, oil treatment, and "Gua Sa" for energy stimulation and muscle relaxation.
